About

Unicraft is a Paris-based startup studio founded in late 2021 by Aurélien Chouvet, who previously led the French office of the W3C and went through French Founders. The studio partners with founders as a cofounder would: it often keeps the chairmanship, hires a CEO, and provides a team (product, design, marketing) that is paid for by the portfolio companies. Check sizes are around €200k for 20 to 40% of the equity, at pre-seed and seed. In 2024, it had eight companies in its portfolio, three of them created in-house, with €2.5M invested from its own balance sheet. Zen Modular, a modular construction platform, is its most visible deal: the studio came in at the end of 2022 alongside Kanopee, through a dedicated vehicle. The studio also created and funded Magic (an app for outings and discovery) and Goodcity (fractional investment in commercial real estate), and its portfolio includes Good Circle (ESG management), KillBills (digital receipts) and Adaptiv (AI products for education). For a founder at the idea stage, it is more of an operational partner than an investor, at the price of heavy dilution.
