About
Wallonie Entreprendre is the public financing tool of the Walloon Region in Belgium, created on January 1, 2023, from the merger of SRIW, Sowalfin, and SOGEPA. Led by Olivier Vanderijst, it finances Walloon companies through loans, guarantees, and equity investments; its holdings reached €4.1 billion at its inception. In 2024, it intervened with €492 million in 1,253 companies, including €45 million in innovative startups. It is therefore not a venture capital fund, but a regional public investment bank. Its venture capital also operates through dedicated vehicles, including FNX Ventures, a €20 million fund launched in February 2024 with the FN Herstal group, which invests from €200,000 to €2 million in pre-seed and seed stages in cybersecurity and dual-use technologies, in the Benelux, France, and Germany. Fundamentally, Wallonie Entreprendre participated in the €20.7 million round of Enodia Therapeutics in 2026, and FNX Ventures in the seed stage of Seaber in 2025. For a French founder in defense or security, FNX Ventures is the gateway.
