About
BlackRock is an asset manager founded in New York in 1988, whose private equity teams invest directly, in co-investment, and in the secondary market. Its private equity platform reported $55.2 billion in commitments by the end of 2025, across all strategies. In France, BlackRock led the Series D of Contentsquare in 2020 and the Series B of Loft Orbital in 2021, then participated in the Series E and F of Contentsquare. Funds managed by BlackRock also took a minority stake in EcoVadis on the secondary market in 2022 and joined the Series D of Mistral AI in 2026. Internationally, affiliated funds are among the investors in the 2026 rounds of Anthropic and OpenAI. For a French founder, BlackRock is a potential partner for a large growth round or a secondary transaction, not a first-round investor. Its leads at Contentsquare and Loft Orbital prove its ability to lead, but its four new documented French investments since 2020 show a selective deployment rather than a regular flow.
