Startup funding in the French Tech
French startup funding rounds, month by month: how much is raised, at which stage, in which sectors and regions. And what the data tells a founder preparing a raise.
What this page contains
Amounts raised by year and month by month, the split by stage, sector and region, the latest deals with a link to each company profile, and the funds that entered the most cap tables this year. All of it cut off at the last complete month.
What a founder comes for
Two numbers nobody publishes for France: the median ticket per stage, and the median time between two rounds. They answer the two questions that decide a raise — how much to ask for, and how much runway to plan before the next round. We use the median everywhere rather than the average: a few megarounds distort any average, and a founder benchmarking against an average is benchmarking against a fiction.
Scope and method
Every equity round raised by French companies in our database, including those the EY venture capital barometer leaves out of its own scope: private equity rounds, crowdfunding, post-IPO equity and secondaries. Amounts come from press releases and trade press. Checked against the EY barometer year by year, they match within 1 to 8% — 11.57 against 11.40 billion in 2021, 7.39 against 7.45 in 2025.
Two caveats we hold to
The current month is never shown: it is always partial, and serving it as a complete month would publish an imaginary drop. And we publish no year-on-year change in the number of rounds: our coverage of small rounds was built unevenly and diverges from the EY barometer by minus seventeen to plus seventeen percent depending on the year. Such a change would measure our data collection, not the market. Amounts, on the other hand, compare without reservation.
